6 Things That Are Not in This Sock (And the One Thing That Is)
Most socks for dry feet are sold on what has been added to them. The Solen Base Day Sock is sold on what has been left out: one bonded silicone footbed, and nothing else.
If it does not suit you, reply inside fourteen nights and we refund you without asking for it back.
I read the back of the box before the front. Most people with reactive skin do, because gentle on the front has been wrong before.
So here is the back of the box first.
1. No fragrance

Nothing in it to react to.
Fragrance is one of the most common reasons skin reacts to a product, and it turns up in places people do not expect: socks, bandages, fabric conditioner, even products labelled for sensitive skin. There is none in the Day Sock, and none in the wash instructions either.
2. No cream, no oil, no botanical

No shea, no aloe, no vitamin E soaked into the knit. Every one of those is one more thing that can go wrong.
When a sock is infused, the skin gets whatever is in the infusion, at whatever concentration is left after the last wash, on top of the emollient it was already prescribed. Two products instead of one, and no way of knowing which one it reacted to.
3. No infusion

The silicone is bonded to the footbed, not soaked through the fabric. It does not absorb your emollient and it carries nothing of its own onto skin.
That is also why it does not change over its working life. There is nothing in it to wash out, so the sock in month three behaves exactly like the sock on day one.
If it does not suit you, reply inside fourteen nights and we refund you without asking for it back.
4. No treatment claim

It does not treat anything. It holds the emollient you already use against the skin for longer than cotton can.
Emollients work by sitting on the skin, forming a film that slows water loss and adds back some of the fats the outer layer is short of. They only do that while they are there. Cotton blots them off. Silicone does not. That is the entire mechanism, and it belongs to the emollient, not to us.
5. No hidden care rules

Machine washable at 40 in the mesh bag. No tumble dry. That is all.
Skip fabric conditioner. It coats fibres with its own film and usually its own fragrance, which is the last thing you want next to skin you are trying to keep calm.
6. No hidden lifespan

Working life 3 to 6 months of daily wear, printed on the pack.
A garment washed after every wear does wear out. You should know when before you buy it, not when it stops working.
The one thing that is in it

A bonded silicone footbed and heel. One job.
Silicone does not absorb. That is the only property it is here for: it stops the knit drinking the emollient. The exact grade and composition are on the material list, and anything not yet confirmed by the supplier is marked as such.
How it works
- Patch test: one sock, one hour, intact skin.
- If it suits you: emollient first, sock over it.
- Wash at 40 in the mesh bag.
Proof we can show you
Anything on the material list we have not yet confirmed with the supplier is marked as unconfirmed on the product page, not filled in with something plausible.
Before you buy
- Not over a prescription steroid unless your doctor has said so. Occlusion increases how much is absorbed.
- Not on broken, weeping or infected skin.
- Not between the toes. Those spaces stay dry.
