5 Reasons a Stronger Tube Never Worked (A Cotton Sock Is a Sponge With a Heel)
Pumice, then ten per cent urea, then twenty five, then forty. It was strong enough every time. It just was not there.
Pumice. Ten per cent urea. Then twenty five. Then forty, because obviously the last one was not strong enough.
It was strong enough. It just was not there.

1. A cotton sock is a sponge with a heel

It is built to pull moisture off skin, and it does not know the difference between sweat and cream.
Cotton fibres are hollow little tubes that suck liquid in and pass it along from one fibre to the next. That is capillary action, and it is why cotton makes good towels and good summer socks. Put it over a heel full of cream and it does the same thing: it draws the cream into the knit and spreads it through the whole sock, where your skin cannot reach it.
2. So the strength of the tube barely matters

What matters is how long it stays on you. In cotton, that is not long.
A stronger cream is more concentrated, so it can do more in the same time. But heel skin is thick, and taking water into that thick layer is slow work whatever the percentage. Forty per cent for twenty minutes is still twenty minutes. Ten per cent held on for a whole working day gets hours. The ladder of tubes was a ladder of strength, when what was missing was time.
3. The Day Sock does not soak anything up

Its inner face is bonded silicone. Same cream, the one already in your drawer, staying against the heel instead of in the fabric.
Silicone has no fibres, so there is no capillary action and nowhere for the cream to travel. It stays on the skin, which is the only place it was ever meant to be.

4. It goes under your work shoes

So it keeps working while you do, not while a duvet steals it.
In bed, a heel rubs on a sheet for eight hours. In a shoe, the sock is held still against the foot, so the cream stays where you put it. The hours you are already on your feet become the hours the cream is working.
5. Three pairs costs less than the ladder of tubes

£55, with the Night Sleeve in the box.
Most people with a drawer of tubes have spent more than that already, £9 at a time. This is one purchase that makes every tube you already own work properly, instead of another rung.
